Clowns Without Borders launches a new expedition to Ukraine to continue accompanying children affected by the war. From August 9 to 23, a team formed by Antonia González, Nacho Camarero, Lolo Fernández, and Andrés Corralero will travel through different municipalities in the regions of Lviv, Zhytomyr, and, for the first time, Khmelnytskyi, offering clown and circus performances in collaboration with the local fundation Rokada.
The performances will take place in educational, social, community, and cultural centres with the aim of creating spaces for play, expression, and emotional support for children and families who continue to live with the consequences of the conflict.
More than three years after the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Ukrainian population continues to face the consequences of the war. According to UNHCR data published last May, attacks on civilian areas increased during the first months of 2026, with a 21% rise in civilian casualties compared to the same period the previous year. Forced displacement and evacuations continue to affect thousands of people, while children are growing up amid uncertainty, disrupted education, and the emotional consequences of living in a context of war.
When a war is prolonged over time, its emotional consequences also continue. For this reason, play, humor, and the performing arts remain essential tools for creating safe spaces where children can express their emotions, regain moments of normality, and strengthen their bonds with their community.
With this new expedition, Clowns Without Borders continues to accompany Ukrainian children and expands its work for the first time to the Khmelnytskyi region, reaffirming its commitment to providing emotional support through laughter wherever it is most needed.
